Inking & Spilling

I went to Dick Blick's after work yesterday and purchased some art supplies. Ink and brushes, I decided I wanted to experiment with inking. It's weird being in an art store looking at all the blank canvases waiting to become something. I took my new supplies home and tried them out instantly. I dinked around a bit with the india ink to get the feel and what have you. Then decided that I need to work on my brush handling skills more. I felt like an old lady with the shakes tracing lines I laid down. After a short session of shaking I figured it was time to pack it up for the time being. Doing so I quietly told myself not to spill the ink. What did I do? I spilled the entire bottle of india ink all over Billy's table. Turning everything black including the new brushes and pencil I bought. GREAT! Surprisingly it all cleaned up pretty well. My finger nails are still a little black. Nothing major though. I'll probably have to go purchase more ink soon too. The next time around I'm going to buy a bottle with a smaller opening.

I watched a movie called Relative Strangers last night. Not so good. It has Danny DeVito and Rob Livingston in it. The movie had a couple laughs mostly in Danny's parts. Other than that the movie as a whole had a cheaply made feel to it with a loud annoying soundtrack in the background of the entire movie. Which made it hard to concentrate. Two stars.

Hey Zach! I used India Ink for a project a year ago or so in my Design Basics class. It's kinda fun to work with, gotta be pretty careful of it as you found out. I actually found that using a toothpick dipped in it worked well for what I was doing. You should try different things and see what you come up with! I've got a hankering to go and see if I can dig up mine now :)
