4 Day Weekend

Well, I only have an hour and forty five minutes now until I start my four day weekend. I don't really have anything major planned.
Tonight, I'll be watching the last Vikings pre-season game. I also want to catch Obama's DNC speech later tonight. I'm going to do all that while I shallow a couple beers. Tomorrow, I'll probably get up and go grocery shopping (my least favorite thing to do) and get it out of the way. Draw a little bit. Sit around and enjoy life. Maybe go for a cruise and take a couple snap shots of the city. Saturday I promised to help a friend move into his new place. That shouldn't take too long. The rest of the day will probably be spent watching some movies. Sunday, wash clothes, clean the inside of the 300 (has been needing it for awhile), Then do my Sunday cruise around the lakes (see whose out). Monday, I'll be relaxing and not thinking about work on Tuesday and the looming deadlines.

That's what I'll be doing for the next four days if everything goes as planned.

I''ll see ya in September!

I've been looking for this book forever!

I used to check this book out from the library at Lowell Elementary every chance I could get.
I couldn't remember the name of this book until I stumbled upon www.whatsthatbook.com
Where some nice person pointed me into the right direction. I can expect my copy of "the best sports book in the whole wide world" (which happens to be one of my favorite books of my child hood) within five to seven business days. Wahoo!
My life feels a little more complete now.

Anyone watching the DNC?

I've started my figure drawing course. Here's what I've learned so far. Invent don't recreate the human figure.

Slob was his name O

I wore a white shirt to work today... Why? Because I'm a risk taker like that. I was wrapping up a cup of coffee (a hybrid mix I slapped together). When I managed to dribble on myself. GREAT! I instantly went into recovery mode and dashed to the bathroom where I washed the stain out (the best I could, until I get a chance to shout it out at least). Then I went over to the screen printers area with my super wet somewhat stain free shirt where I threw it in a huge belt dryer that's going all the time. It took about six times or so and BAM! Back to normal, kind of... My shirt's a little damp yet. But I can deal with it. Part of living the slob lifestyle I suppose. Damp and slightly stained that's how I roll.

I managed to watch most of the movies I gathered for my movie marathon weekend. I ended up substituting a couple new one movies in pushing some others back. I caught The Incredible Hulk, which was pretty good, considering I'm getting burned out with the whole comic book hero fad. I also substituted "I Like Killing Flies" a documentary about a hole-in-the-wall Greenwich Village restaurant. The restaurant owner has some really interesting philosophies about life while some were crazy but entertaining if anything.

Overall I had a successful Zach weekend.

Thursday Living

I've finally seen Pineapple Express this week. I enjoyed it. I'd say more so than Tropic Thunder. Which is a completely different movie, I know. Pine Express was defiantly more brutal and gruesome then I imagined it would be. Which was an interesting twist to the comedy. Overall, if you want to see it I'd say see it. But if you're not in a rush it's a worthy rental for sure. I'm going to have to say my favorite comedy of the summer was Step Brothers by far. It made me laugh way harder then both Pine and Tropic put together.

I also caught a movie called Matchpoint last night. It was pretty good. I generally enjoy Woody Allen movies. I guess it's no surprise that I liked this movie. It just goes to show guys suck. That dude was one lucky guy.

P.S.
We're throwing a party in a couple weeks too and here's the flyer I made for it.

Tidbits

Were you aware that there's a Minneapolis in Kansas and in North Carolina?

The girls at Starbucks have to wake up every morning at 3:15 and open the store at 4:00. That sucks.

Does your pee smell like coffee? Mine does.

I've noticed over the last couple days when I've had a Starbucks in the morning and then later released it back to the world a noticeable Starbuck oder omits itself around the urinal. Anyone else notice this? Just potent stuff I suppose. *shrugs*

Here's a funny quote I found about a guy hating on hippies protesting Starbucks in San Francisco.
"I will piss all over your stupid javahouse graves (and my pee will smell like sweet, sweet Starbucks coffee)".

New Wacom Pen Came In!

Super!

Tropic Thunder

I went to the movies last night with some friends and saw Tropic Thunder. I had high expectations for this movie. I've found that when ever I have high expectations for movies they hardly live up to them. Maybe I set the expectations too high to be obtained. The movie as a whole wasn't bad just mediocre. I'm going to give it another chance when it comes out on DVD. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for Tropic Thunder last night. For now my opinion is that this movie was a little overrated. Downy Jr did a pretty good job. Jack was his normal self. Ben was alright. The other guys were pretty good. Tom Cruise was a spaz. It's still hard to get over the whole scientology thing but he actually did alright.

I think next week I want to check out Pineapple Express.

Thirty Thursday

Hola!

The cute Starbucks girl was working this morning. It's about the closet thing I have to a perfect send off. What's the perfect send off? The perfect send off in the morning would involve a smooch goodbye. But, I'll take the next best thing, a mocha. Even though I paid for it. It's a wonderful service. It fills the void that happens to be vacant for now.

I keep spilling on myself today... I'm a freaking slop. Maybe I'm just lazy, I am slothful after all. Happens I guess.

Last night was boring. I did my shopping. I've got the foods for my outing this weekend. Tonight I'll be packing the sh*t up. I read some articles in a couple Rolling Stones I've had staked up. Nothing too interesting. One article was about Skatopia. It's an 80 acre skate park in Ohio that promotes anarchy and craziness for free supposedly. I just wonder about their insurance costs...

I started to re-watch King Ralph as well last night... I got to the part where the girl was given money to sabotage Ralph. Then I passed out... It was about 9:45... Lame I know. But that's how I roll, on the lamer side of life. I more comfortable there.

Holla!

Not much to report today.

A new Wacom pen is schedule to arrive via the UPS Monday morning. Can I get a woot woot? Yours truely will be back in business on the wacom front anyways. I have a huge canvas I need to paint too. I've had it since last December... An idea for it finally hit me. Elephants... Weird huh? In the mean time I've been watching movies, drinking beers and eating pizza. I lead a very slothful life. I know what I enjoy alright.

I watched The Wackness with Ben Kinsley last night. I'd say that it was enjoyable, it had a couple funny parts. It was weird seeing Ben with lots of hair. Josh Peck the kid from "Josh and Drake" did alright too. Man that kid has changed for the better, look wise. Good for him.

I also caught the latest episode of Weeds. Good episode this week indeed. "El Andy will not die this day... You will die!"

Wad & myself later smoked cigars outside where we spotted a huge spider living above our back door. We named her Abby. She even snatched a couple bugs while we were watching her. It was intense. Her web is huge too... Gross, spiders.

The Wackness had a good soundtrack. I ended up listening to Neil Young's Out On The Weekend a couple times. Along with Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie Album.

Tonight? I have to go to shopping... One of my least favorite things to do. I'm going camping / on a killing my liver adventure this weekend. I'll be gathering foods to survive on while I'm sleeping outside in a drunken stupor. JK I don't get that crazy... Very often. I am looking forward to playing a couple games of Croquet. You've gotta love a game that lets you use mallets. Especially once you find out someone has been juicing or cheating. Giving you the right to hit them with a mallet.

Have a good one kids.

Dam You Gravity!

I got my new Wacom tablet in the mail yesterday. I took my newly purchased tablet home yesterday after work. I created this elephant then all the sudden the Wacom pen jumped out of my hand and landed on the floor. Ever since my pen hasn't been working correctly. I took the pen apart to see if I could fix it. Upon entering the pen I had indeed broke a very weak piece in the pen. I tried super gluing it back together... No luck. So now I have to order a new pen, which is a bummer cause I was really getting the hang of it. For now I can use the eraser end until my new pen comes in the mail. Once I get my new pen hopefully it'll never meet the ground. So for those of you in the market for a Wacom Tablet, do not drop the pen... Apparently they're very fragile.

I watched Multiplicity last night. The movie was much funnier than I remembered it being as a kid. Probably cause I get the jokes now. :P

Gung Ho Sunday

How I spent my Sunday.

Woke up, made breakfast, changed the front passenger tire out for the spare in my trunk cause it was super bald. Decided, I need to get new tires all around before the snow flies. Picked up a little bit around the house. Commenced a movie marathon where I watched...

1. Son Of Rambow - very good
2. Doomsday - meh, entertaining if anything
3. Step Brothers - very hilarious, laughed so hard I cried
4. An American Crime - interesting and sad
5. Smart People - different, still trying to decide if I like Ellen Page or not.

(that's two Ellen Page movies in a row... I almost had a hard time with that.)

I then went to bed where I dreamed sweet dreams... where I forgot about them soon as I woke up.

Need to watch pile is growing.
*(have never seen yet)*
The Wackness
Driving Miss Daisy
Wonder Boys
Match Point

*(have seen before, but want to re-watch)*
Adams Family 1 & 2
King Ralph
Dan In Real Life
Serpico
Everything Is Illuminated
Princess Bride
American Splendor
Hitchhiker's Guide To Galaxy

Survived!

So I survived my 11 hour "class" today. I have a headache now. Talk about information overload. There were alot of minors in my class too. Couldn't really google the young ladies cause you didn't know if there were old enough even... Weird. They also made us watch two movies. The first one wasn't too bad. Just about a group of people doing a drinking experiment. Where they were monitored while they drank all night and even monitored while they slept. A gal in the movie puked... That was probably the only memorable moment of that movie. The second movie scared the idea of having kids out of my mind. It was called Smashed. Produced by HBO even. It was geared more towards teenagers cause it only involved teenagers. But it still got the message across. This movie was the graphic one where they showed the bloods and brains and wounds. Not to mention drilling into skulls. It was pretty crazy stuff. It scared me because teenagers are dumb and do stupid stuff. I don't know if I could be put into that situation of having to worry about my son or daughter being severely hurt to the point they almost die. Just to have them go back to drinking after they survived the horrific accident they were in. Ah stupid kids. I guess in a sense I'm still just a stupid kid.... Just with little more independence & responsibilities. MADD brought in a couple people to use scare tactics on us by telling us their very horrifying life altering experiences. It worked mind you.

There was also a young gal in my class with the last name of Puckett. I sort of wondered if she was any relation to Kirby Puckett.

Well time to head off to a BBQ - where I won't be drinking, even though I am thirsty after a day like today. Just doesn't seem right.

Hope you're all having a safe and pleasent weekend.

Matt's Bar didn't disappoint me again last night. If you've never been, you must go. Bring cash, watch out for the hot cheese and enjoy.

Inking & Spilling

I went to Dick Blick's after work yesterday and purchased some art supplies. Ink and brushes, I decided I wanted to experiment with inking. It's weird being in an art store looking at all the blank canvases waiting to become something. I took my new supplies home and tried them out instantly. I dinked around a bit with the india ink to get the feel and what have you. Then decided that I need to work on my brush handling skills more. I felt like an old lady with the shakes tracing lines I laid down. After a short session of shaking I figured it was time to pack it up for the time being. Doing so I quietly told myself not to spill the ink. What did I do? I spilled the entire bottle of india ink all over Billy's table. Turning everything black including the new brushes and pencil I bought. GREAT! Surprisingly it all cleaned up pretty well. My finger nails are still a little black. Nothing major though. I'll probably have to go purchase more ink soon too. The next time around I'm going to buy a bottle with a smaller opening.

I watched a movie called Relative Strangers last night. Not so good. It has Danny DeVito and Rob Livingston in it. The movie had a couple laughs mostly in Danny's parts. Other than that the movie as a whole had a cheaply made feel to it with a loud annoying soundtrack in the background of the entire movie. Which made it hard to concentrate. Two stars.

Humph

I'm really dreading my 11 hour class on Saturday. Yuck! Oh well. Life goes on.

I've decided last night that grocery shopping at Greatland Target is fine until you come upon their frozen pizza section.
You'd be surprised by how many vary types of frozen pizzas are floating around out there. However, Target is seriously lacking in this department. You can get your standard Jack's, Tombstones, Red Baron, Party Pizza business there but good luck finding anything else. The Cub I go to has probably the best frozen pizza selection ever. Here are my top five favorite frozen pizzas that you must try.

(In Specific Order)
1. Home Run Inn: Pepperoni & Sausage (The crust is amazing on this pie, I'm addicted I swear.)
2. Davanni's: Deep Dish Pepperoni (Takes for ever to make cause it's so deep, but so worth the wait.)
3. Freschetta: Pizza Amore's Meat Melody (Pre-Sliced)
4. Wolfgang Puck: Uncured Pepperoni Pizza (All natural)
5. Kashi: Roasted Garlic Chicken (Good for the heart)

So that's my top five as of today.
There's still some out there I haven't tried yet.

Sidenotes:
I watched episode 8 of Season 4 of Weeds last night. Weeds is a really good show. This season is alright, not as good as previous seasons. It's finally starting to get steam and getting juicy.

I also watched Shin A Light (The Rolling Stones Concert movie). I must say that I really enjoyed it. If you're any sort of fan of the Stones you must not hesitate any longer and go out and view this movie PERIOD

Bloopin Bloggin

I retooled my website last night & today cause I managed to mess it up this morning so I had to start over. But no worries.
It's not much yet. I'm still in the process of adding content to make it worth visiting. But do feel free to keep checking it out as the week progresses. I hope to be back a 100% by the end of the week. Zached.com

Side Notes: I watched a movie called Meet Bill last night. If you haven't already seen it yet it is worth a viewing, there are a couple laughs here and there throughout the whole thing. I gave it my standard 3 stars on Netflix.

My Starbuck girls weren't working this morning. Sort of sad, but this too shall pass. :P

Back to the grind in the big city.

My quick weekend to Williston, North Dakota was good, too short but overall really good. I enjoyed hanging out with the family and partying with them is always a blast. Seeing Izzy again was awesome. She's getting so big and fun. She's got a lot of new tricks and is learning more everyday. I apologize to everyone I didn't get to see up there. There's just never enough time.
